Send your medication list and a line or two about what you want from a review, or book a free five-minute call. I'll tell you honestly whether the review is worth your money. Sometimes the answer is to see your GP and keep it.

    Supervised step-down

    £99 a month

    What the review involves →

Investigations are charged separately, whether they are done privately or through your GP.

The review is booked by the patient. Family members are welcome to make first contact and ask questions.

For every medication on your list, I ask four questions.

  1. 01

    Why was it started?

What the problem was, who prescribed it, and what it was meant to do.

  2. 02

Is the problem it treated still there?

Some problems resolve. Some were never confirmed in the first place. If the reason has gone, we need to ask why you are still taking it.

  3. 03

    Has your physiology changed since?

Your weight, your kidney function, your blood pressure, your age, how active you are. A dose that was right ten years ago may not be right now.

  4. 04

Is one medication treating another's side effect?

One medication causes a symptom, a second is added to treat it, and nobody joins the two up.

Before you book.

Do you just take people off medication?
No. The review asks whether each medication still fits. Sometimes the answer is to stop or reduce it. Sometimes the answer is that it is doing its job and should stay, and the plan says so.
What does it cost, and what is included?
The review is £395: a 55-minute consultation with me, in person, and your written plan. Supervised step-down while you carry the plan out is £99 a month, and it ends when the plan is complete. Investigations are charged separately, whether they are done privately or through your GP. See the fees page →
Where do consultations take place?
Consultations take place at Sutton Medical Consulting, First Floor, Ashfurlong Medical Centre, 233 Tamworth Road, Sutton Coldfield, B75 6DX.
Can I book for a parent or relative?
The review is booked by the patient. Family members are welcome to make first contact and ask questions, but the appointment and the decision to proceed are the patient's.
How is this different from going back to my GP?
A GP manages one problem at a time, in the time available. A health screen gives you numbers. This sits in between: one doctor looking at your whole medication list and the physiology underneath it, with the time to do it.
Will you work with my GP or specialist?
Yes. Where appropriate, changes are made alongside your GP or specialist.
Can I stop my medication suddenly?
No. Many medications need to be reduced gradually and monitored. Never stop abruptly without clinical advice. This applies especially to SSRIs and blood pressure medication.
What does supervised step-down include?
A short check with me each month, your home readings reviewed, a letter to your GP each time a dose changes, and email questions about your plan with a reply within two working days. It is not for new or urgent symptoms. Those go to your GP, NHS 111 or 999. It stops when your plan is complete, and you can cancel any month.
Do I have to take the supervised step-down?
No. The written plan is yours, and yours to take to your GP. Supervised step-down is for people who want me to manage the changes with them. If your plan involves stopping or reducing something, I will recommend it, because those changes need watching. The decision is yours.
Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?
No. Dr Reardon does not prescribe GLP-1 medications for weight loss, and this is not a weight-loss service. GLP-1 exit planning is no longer offered here. It has moved to Go Metabolic, Dr Reardon's metabolic health clinic in Lichfield, and opens when that clinic does.
Do you prescribe medication?
Where clinically appropriate, prescriptions can be arranged via SignatureRx and delivered to your home address. The service is not a prescription shortcut. It is a clinical review that arrives at the most defensible next step.
